Ready to take your Oakton experience to the next level? All students are invited to join the B.L.A.C.K. Student Success Program (BSSP), designed to empower Black students by understanding the unique challenges and triumphs of the Black experience in higher education. BSSP is your support system for success from classroom to career, all within a community that celebrates Black excellence.
The BSSP workshops are designed to be a powerful resource. We focus on creating a safe space that celebrates Black culture and provides the tools you need to thrive on and off campus.
Build skills that will get you noticed. We'll help you develop the skills you need to navigate the professional world from a Black perspective. Learn how to network with Black professionals, advocate for yourself in the workplace and build a career that aligns with your values.
Connect with Black peers and advisors who share your experiences in a welcoming and culturally relevant environment. BSSP fosters a supportive community where you can ask questions, share challenges and receive guidance.
Discover resources both on and off campus that can help you succeed academically and personally. BSSP workshops can connect you to tutoring services, financial aid and mental health counseling.
Community Chats are conversations designed to build awareness and understanding, provide opportunities to address mental health and well-being, and foster a sense of community. We encourage dialogue across differences and promote inclusivity. These discussions help inform and shape BSSP’s ongoing program development.
Celebrate cultural pride and identity through events that enhance visibility and representation. Strengthen connections within the campus community, and promote historical awareness and commemoration, providing inspiration and motivation across the campus.
