Oakton College is continuing campus improvement projects, including those outlined in our recently approved facilities master plan (PDF 7.4 MB), which will result in transformed spaces that create an optimal learning and working environment for students and employees.

Des Plaines Campus

Space Availability

TenHoeve Center
The TenHoeve conference rooms (1604, 1606, 1608, and 1610) will remain offline through the 2027 calendar year as renovations continue in that space.

However, the TenHoeve classrooms (1603, 1605, and 1607) will remain online for the entire 2026/2027 academic year.

Room 1275 and the Des Plaines Campus store
Starting Sept. 1, room 1275 will go offline, as preparations begin for it to serve as the temporary location of the Campus Store (formerly known as the Bookstore) during renovations to the current Campus Store space.

The Campus Store is expected to become operational in room 1275 toward the end of September.

The construction contract and the purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment are expected to be presented for consideration by Oakton’s Board of Trustees at the September board meeting. Pending approval, construction will begin after completion of phase two.

The Des Plaines Campus Store is scheduled to move to its temporary location of Room 1275 in September.

Office Renovations

The contractor is working on rough-in work for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Drywall finishing is nearing completion. Painting is scheduled to begin the week of July 6.

Work is substantially complete pending inspections and punch list items. Furniture will be delivered and installed in early September. Moves are expected to occur in September.

Phase one of restroom renovations are complete and all restrooms at the Des Plaines and Skokie campuses are currently open.

Phase two restroom renovations, including rooms 2214 & 2216 at Des Plaines, are expected to begin in Sept. 2026.

Phase two restroom renovations, including rooms A149, A148, C236, C237 at Skokie, are expected to begin in Sept. 2026.

The project is in the design phase. The design team has been holding meetings with stakeholders for planning and design.
